Imaging Resource<\/strong> was founded in 1998 with a single clear goal: to provide photographers, enthusiasts, and imaging professionals with unbiased, detailed, and trustworthy reviews of camera gear. For more than two decades, we have built a reputation for honesty, depth, and technical rigor – a source you can rely on when making gear decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imaging Resource is part of the BGFG Group, which is located in the U.K., and publishes websites and magazines dedicated to enthusiasts and professionals in a variety of markets. Our sibling publication, Outdoor Photographer<\/a>, is also part of this publishing family, and we share technical and practical knowledge with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Origins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What began as a one-man effort quickly evolved. In 1997, the founder of Imaging Resource, David Etchells realized that there was a flood of new camera gear thanks to the move from film photography to a new digital photography era, but no reliable information about the functionality of these new products. He started planning a new site dedicated to honest reviews, practical knowledge, and real-world testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1998, Imaging Resource officially launched with its first set of camera reviews. Over time, the site expanded and began covering the whole photographic and, later, video markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Imaging Resource Today<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In January of 2025 Imaging Resource started the process of relaunching the site, bringing its design and content up to today’s design and content style. Audiences want visual content, videos, and guides that help them make the right choices without having to wade through pages of text. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Editor-in-Chief, David Schloss, has more than 25 years of experience as a photographer, reviewer, magazine editor, and even did a stint in PR in the photo industry. He was the editor of Digital Photo Pro magazine, another sibling to Outdoor Photographer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital Photo Pro closed its doors in 2022, but its focus on the most professional quality journalism lives on at Imaging Resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our contributors are the best in the business, having worked as professional photographers, videographers, and reviewers for dozens of years between them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
